Prefix: “Buff” derived from Coach/Personal Trainer/Buffletics Leader Brandon Bufton. To be “buff” can also be known as being swole, jacked, fit-af, etc.
Suffix: “letics” derived from the word “athletics,” which means to be in pursuit of fitness and self-betterment
Related: “Bufflete” which is a term affectionately given to members of the Buffletics community.
My fitness journey began back in 2010, in the weight room of my college baseball team. This was the first time in my life that I had ever been on a strength program, and I was surrounded by athletes who had already been weight training for 2+ years. I immediately saw how far behind I was in this realm. Since that moment, I dove into fitness head first and never looked back.
Since then, I have applied the principles of Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, CrossFit, and Physiotherapy to my training. I mixed in some science with a Bs. In Community Health, and never stopped learning from the coaches around me. After a 5 year college baseball career, I transitioned to CrossFit as an athlete and coach. Helping athletes overcome the challenges of training, watching them hit PR’s and celebrating with them soon became more important to me than my own training. It was at this point that I knew that I wanted to help people become the fittest versions of themselves.
It is true that you will need to put in the work. But, between every challenge you will have Buffletics there encouraging you, hyping you up, and supporting the effort that you are putting in.
Through the journey of personal fitness, you will be shown what you are capable of. In that process, you will realize how capable you really are to tackle any challenges or obstacles life throws your way.
There is no lie that sometimes working out can be tough, but it’s the Buffletics mission to make fitness transform from something you have to do to something you get to do.
The core movement principles (structure, strength, and speed) allow you to earn the privilege of going fast. We will focus on your safety and foundations so that no matter what physical challenges you encounter in your life, you will have the template of success to accomplish it.
You are important, but you are not better than anyone else in the Buffletics community. That humble trust, accountability, and encouragement amongst fellow Buffletics athletes and in the coach-athlete relationship is what makes training both fun and sustainable.
We believe that grit, like any other skill, can be trained through consistent execution of overcoming challenges within the gym. This affords you the confidence to embrace discomfort in all sections of your life and the power to do something about it.
